Abstract

Aim: The period of parenthood is considered an important period in life; aAt this time, we see changes in various dimensions in parents. The aim of this study was to identify changes in personal, marital and social dimensions. Methods: This qualitative research was conducted using thematic analysis approach. The study population of the research is equal to the research participants, were included couples who have been married for at least 7 years and have at least one 2-year-old child; have comparative satisfaction with their lives; residein Tehran and participated in the research with informed consent. The participants were selected from the eligible clients through purposive sampling and available methods. The sampling process continued until theoretical saturation was reached and finally 18 participants were studied through interviews. Results: The thematic analysis of the data showed that mothers believe that since the birth of a child, they had increasing changes in personal, marital and social relationships; So that the personal dimensions include: the expansion of responsibility, the expansion of self-concept and patience. Also, the trends that we witness in the marital relationship include intimacy, enriching couple cohesion, strengthening boundaries and creating parental identity, and the trends in social relationships include revising the social role and expanding the bond with the family of origin
